More about NFS & FTP
What NFS is
The Network File System (NFS) is a client-server application that allows a user to view, save and update a file on a remote computer as if it was located on their own machine. An NFS client is installed on the user’s system and the NFS server on the other computer. Both components require TCP/IP to be installed, as the server and the client use TCP/IP to transfer files and updates.
What FTP is
The File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a network protocol for file transfer via an IP network. An FTP is used to upload files from the client to the server or to download files from the server to the client. FTPs can also transfer files between two servers – this is controlled by the client. FTPs are located in the application layer, or layer 7. A file transfer protocol can also be used to create, read, rename or delete directories and files.
What we offer
When we provision an NFS for you, we also offer an FTP to give you an easy way to upload your files.
